HOW CAN I REMOVE THE WAX FROM THE SEAL?

Cool your seal down by rubbing it on an ice cube. When the metal plate is cold you can easily remove the wax with a toothpick. Do not use sharp tools to remove the wax from the seal as these can make scratches on the sealing surface which will be transferred to your wax medallions.

HOW DO I REMOVE A WAX MEDALLION?

If by any reason you have a wax seal that you don´t like, allow it to cool down completely; once the medallion is cold, slowly bend the document and remove the medallion carefully. Then re-seal the document melting more sealing wax over the wax mark left by the defective seal.

WHY IS THE WAX STICKING TO THE SEAL?

In most of the cases is because the seal is not lubricated properly. It is necessary to pre-lubricate the sealing plate rubbing it over the pre-lubricated fabric before stamping it on the wax. Another reason is because the seal is too hot because its continuous use; if this happens it is necessary to cool it down placing it over an ice cube or in the freezer before you keep on sealing more documents.

CAN I REUSE A DEFECTIVE WAX SEAL?

Yes, ALB´s premium sealing waxes can be re melted to make a new seal without loosing its properties.

Carefully remove the wax seal and melt it again by placing it in your Wax melting pot. If you don't have one, heat the tip of the sealing wax bar and press the medallion against the bar; it will stick to the bar and then you can melt it again.

HOW TO USE A BAR END PIECE WITHOUT BURNING?

Heat the tip of a new bar and once it starts to melt firmly press the remaining piece of the previous bar to it. It will stick to the new bar and you can continue the sealing process without discarding the small pieces.
